Paul R. Levenson

Paul R. Levenson (Deceased), was a founding partner of Kaplan & Levenson P.C. whose practice concentrated on Litigation, Entertainment and Real Estate. Mr. Levenson was an experienced and highly skilled attorney who represented large and small companies as lead trial counsel in a wide variety of matters including real estate, construction, land use, environmental and municipal liability litigation.

Mr. Levenson graduated from Hofstra Law School “with distinction” with a J.D. in 1982, and was a Note Editor of the Hofstra Law Review. Mr. Levenson received his B.S. in Criminal Justice from St. John’s University in 1976.

Prior to joining Kaplan Levenson, Mr. Levenson was a partner at Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C. from 1991 through 1996. He was admitted to practice in New York and Florida, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.

Tragically, Mr. Levenson lost his battle with brain cancer on September 6, 2005.  He leaves behind him a legacy of intellect, compassion, integrity and hard work.  He influenced every person’s life he touched, from judges and juries, to his co-workers and adversaries, and, of course, his family and friends.  He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Mr. Levenson’s numerous published cases include landmark decisions in Smithers v. St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center, 281 App. Div. 2d 127, 723 N.Y.S.2d 426 (1st Dept. 2001) and Capitol Records, Inc. v. Naxos of America, Inc., 372 F.3d 471 (2nd Cir. 2004) and 4 N.Y.3d 540, 797 N.Y.S.2d 352 (NY 2005).
